This is part 2 of me reviewing anime i watched in the past 2 weeks.

Paranoia Agent

Work of the man behind Perfect Blue, (a movie enjoyed a lot), Satoshi Kon. My feelings are complicated about this one. You see, at some points i had to drag myself to finish this. At parts the story just doesn't go forward and gets stuck which was kinda frustrating. But what is the story?

Paranoia Agent is about an assault accident involving Tsukiko Sagi, the character designer of the famous toy called Maromi and a boy with golden roller blades and baseball bat who committed the crime. Shortly after more assault cases appear but the boy, soonly nicknamed Shounen Bat, seems uncatchable. Two detectives Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Maniwa are investigating without many results. As the assailant continues to commit crimes the whole town gets paranoid.

Of Course knowing the director the story gets to a point where you cant separate reality and illusion. Personally i think this concept works better in a movie, where you finish it in one sitting and so you don't get TOTALLY confused about where the story is at. I realized this after the 2nd time i sat down to watch the show and i didn't understand what was happening until the middle of said episode.

Overall, even if its not as good as Perfect Blue it is still enjoyable, i think the commentary about how rumors spread and can effect people’s lives is great.

Sarazanmai

I really wanna talk about this one, because i actually went into this one completely blind. At the time i wanted to watch something cute, something fun. I remembered the anime about 3 boys who can turn into kappas that i saw some years ago so i said, ‘Fuck it, why not’ and sat down to watch it.

Needless to say it had gone beyond my expectations. I was expecting a dumb story about kappa asshole sucking but i got much more then that. Next to the *kappa asshole sucking,Sarazanmai talks about human relationships and how necessary they actually are.

Yknow those old married couples who don't talk to each other and thus hate each other?

Yeah, Sarazanmai basically tells you to don't do that and ✯talk to people✯

It also has LGBT main characters if that's what you’re looking for..

The animation is very beautiful, the ost is nice. The humor is weird but so much fun, it is made out of word play tho so sadly some of it doesn't translate too well to english

I personally don't wanna tell much about it as i think people who haven't seen it should also go in blind as i did. It is short with only 11 episodes and i found it easy to watch in one sitting.

Tatami Galaxy

Same with Sarazanmai, I wouln’t like to tell you so much about the story here. But basically:

Our main character, simply listed as Watashi on MAL, is a collage student who wishes to have a “rose-colored” campus life. He wants to find love, you see.. so he decides to join various clubs. Every episode revolves around an alternative timeline based on the choices he makes, mainly about what clubs he chooses.

This format goes thru all episodes until episode 10. It changes there, i wont spoil how tho.

To me those 2 episodes made it worth watching the show, i really liked the last 2, it hit close to home.

The animation is unique, as usual from Science SARU. The story tells itself in a weird way, and the animation makes it that much more fun and entertaining to watch.

I think its definitely worth watching, even if not for the massage its trying to tell then for the funky and wacky situations the main character gets himself into.

I gave it 7/10 on MAL

Hi everyone, I'm here to review and talk about some of the anime I watched in the past 2 weeks.

I will talk about shows and movies that are all oh so different from each other, so let’s start.

Also, I'll have to put this into 2 parts lol

Dead Leaves

So lets talk about Dead Leaves fist. Well how do i put it.. it is one of the weirdest shorts i've ever watched.

The Director, Hiroyuki Imaishi, worked on projects like: FLCL, Promare, REDLINE and most notably: Panty and Stocking with Gartelbert. I would say that Dead Leaves is like a lost episode of Panty and Stocking. Dirty jokes, insane action, and an even more weirder story.

The synopsis reads:

Pandy and Retro awaken naked on Earth with no recollection of their past. They embark on a devastating crime spree in search of food, clothing and transportation, but are captured by authorities and sent to the infamous lunar penitentiary named Dead Leaves.

Weird,huh?

I'm sure if someone would watch this movie drunk or stoned they would absolutely not know what's happening. I was totally sober and even I got lost. It does have a story but ironically not even one of the main characters know what exactly is happening. But i'm pretty sure the story was not the point here, it was the action and the experimental animation style. Like i've mentioned earlier It reminded me of Panty and Stocking. The animation style is very similar, for multiple reasons but what really popped out to me was how both write the sound effects on the screen (in english).

Overall, i didn't feel sane watching this but if you are a fan of animation, especially action, i recommend checking it out for that reason only.

Grave of the Fireflies

Grave of the Fireflies is a Ghibli movie, came out in 1988. I've never seen it before. I had to prepare myself to watch it.

I've actually known about the film since years but i didn't have the courage to watch it.

The Movie is about Seita and his younger sister, Setsuko as they try to survive around the end of WW2 in 1945. The american military is bombing villages and cities all around Japan and the two siblings now left without a home or parents wander around the countryside searching for a place to stay and food to eat.

The movie is it's own experience. With its slow pasting it convinced me for a moment that they might actually be doing fine while still feeling like something wasn't right. It makes the ending come as a shock even if you knew it was going to happen. The animation is wonderful, as expected from Studio Ghibli.

It makes comments on war and what it does to people. It is a cruel story that isn't for everyone. Thought it is a movie that I would recommend to everyone who hasn't seen it and is okay with its topics.

I gave it 9/10 on MAL

Jujutsu Kaisen

Now back to good old shounen. Jujustu Kaisen is the latest big shounen hit, it has gotten really, really popular. I can see why. The story is a classic shounen.

The story follows Yuuji Itadori who one day gets involved with a cursed item a finger that belonged to the 4 armed Sukuna Ryoumen, “the King of Curses”. After swallowing the finger and gaining control over the soul of Sakuna he steps into the word of Jujustu sorcerers and has to deal with various cursed spirits.

It does what it does nicely, but i think if Studio MAPPA didn't go all out on the animation not many would have watched it nor liked it.

I would compare it to Demon Slayer as the both have an average story line that the animation brings to life, but i will say that i like Demon Slayer better.

The humour is something i wasn't really a fan of, it wasn't much just characters acting funky sometimes.

Overall, the show is fun, if you are looking for something to watch so you can relax then i would absolutely recommend it
