i’m suddenly struck with a memory and thinking back i think it’s kinda fucking funny-
riding in the very back seat of a packed car on a long road trip through Dominican Republic, year of 2016
I’m laying my head back, trying to sleep through some of this long ass drive right because duh and I'm finally peacefully drifting off when i very faintly hear a familiar tune.... I didn’t have my phone on me because it was upfront charging so um wtf right. I soon realize it’s coming from the car’s speakers and so i listen closer and; i am gravely shooken. It was a song i knew could only be coming from my phone. So I panic and say “HEY GUYS UHHH SORRY MY UH PHONE IS PLAYING MUSIC TO THE CAR FOR SOME REASON YOU CAN UH JUST GIVE IT TO ME SO I CAN TURN IT OFF HAHAHAHA” to which my godfather in the driver’s seat responded in spanish along the lines “Oh! How nice I’d love to know what kind of music my goddaughter listens to. I’ll just put it up so you can hear it better :D”
Me: “nONONO IT’S ALRIGHT JUS-” . . . .

he put it down after a bit while me and my tiny brain marinated in that embarrassing silence for a gooood long while, being judged by my fellow family members as what they perceive to be a white-washed heathen sitting amongst them
