I've been replaying Fallout 3 recently after so many years apart. What a game. I used to give Bethesda so much slack for deviating from the classics, but really it isn't actually all that different in most respects. The BoS is very much different but there's a reason for it, it's not so much a retcon as I thought it was. The outcasts show just how different the REAL BoS are from those in the Capitol. The gameplay is still so much fun, shooting, VATs (which was a stroke of genius to appease the classic fanboys), and the atmosphere, which is perfect retrofuturistic gothic. I plan on revisiting 1 and 2 soon, but first Clayton gifted me Planescape for Christmas so I will get around to that sooner rather than later. It's been in my recommended videos on YouTube for a while because I'm a big fan of Noah Caldwell-Gervais who does a lot of in-depth analytical looks at what makes games (the ones worth talking about) click. He also does some road trip videos which are comfy. Anyway, yeah so I will be playing Planescape too. I really love that old Infinity Engine vibe, quite nostalgic, despite me not growing up in the nineties.
Besides from that, nothing much has changed since my last blog post. I have a clearer sense of self than I did before. I don't praise lockdown, the opposite in-fact, but I appreciate the lessons that have bloomed from my time spent with it. It has given me cause for introspection and changed me a great deal for the better to be more appreciative, optimistic and to have a little bit more faith, spiritually, religiously and with myself. Past few days I've been looking into GATE and Hyperborea/Atlantis, I'm a huge fan of mysteries and the unexplained so if anyone wants to recommend me something to look into go ahead. Right now I'm doing my own research on Owls and how they pertain to psychopomps in history, and how symbolism is the universal language, and the similarities in separate cultures all having similar folklore.
Sorry for the delay in posts, I haven't forgotten about this place, I just haven't had anything noteworthy -- you could argue I still don't, to post here. Hopefully when restrictions lift I can post a little more often.
That is it for me from now, feel free to leave a comment and I hope you enjoy your Shrove Tuesday! Unfortunately no pancakes for me today as I've started Calorie Counting and my Mum won't let anyone make any because she's getting the house sorted and doesn't want it smelling of batter. Oh well.
Peace out!
