*serious post* Jehova's Witnesses

I want this to be kinda quick since I don't really wanna make serious posts but it's not something I hear enough about of out there so I just wanna do what I can. If you or anyone in your family has been approached by Jehova's witnesses please stay away from them they are not a religion they are a cult.

*They target people going through a hard situation like depression or the death of a loved one

*They'll slowly forbid you from contacting anyone outside of the cult (I wasn't allowed to have a best friend in school and also this reaaaally messes up your social abilities if you're a kid)

*If you manage to get out everyone inside is never allowed to talk to you again even if they're family (that's how my best friend since I was six had to stop talking to me lmao) if they talk to you it can only be if they have intentions of recruiting you again

*Almost any type of "worldly entertainment" is banned, people literally thought Pokémon was satanic

*Won't ever celebrate any festivity (I had to burn a Christmas invitation I got in secret when I was in 3rd grade)

*Homophobic, my mom and I lived with a lesbian Jehovah's witness for a few years so we could help her "convert" herself

*Sexist as fuck, women have some serious limitations, my mom had to add extra fabric to my dresses so I wouldn't be seen as SLUTTY AT AGE 11

*Elders (authority figures in the congregations) abuse of their power which a lot of the times ends in sexual abuse

*Classist: sometimes poor spiritual siblings (that's how we called ourselves lmao) get left out of social events (although I gotta admit this one was probably just specific of my congregation)

*You have to entirely dedicate your life to Jehovah, in the most literal sense. You're not allowed to go to college or get a job that doesn't allow you to go to all the meetings

*Gossip is fucking crazy in there, a 16 y/o girl from another congregation who no one even really knew posted a picture on Instagram with a "slutty outfit" and everyone talked about it for weeks, even literal kids

I was reaaally lucky to get out at such a young age, people usually have to wait until they can move out on their own and have the pressure from losing ALL of their loved ones.
Please don't associate all Jehova's Witnesses with this, most are victims that just follow the rules that have been handed to them ever since they were born, some have really good intentions and are some of the kindest souls I've ever met.
there's more stuff (and I guess some of these depend on the congregation you're on) but I don't wanna make this too long since I don't know if this blog is really worth making anyways but if I manage to help even one person I'm already glad, take care everyone.
