Wall
Have you perceived the Wall?
the Wall shakes with fear
defaced with hollow holes
upon the surface.
Still, providing protection
from the miserably relentless hurricane.
Sheltering our pale skin from
her own never ending burdens.
the Wall is disregarded and
delivers a lifeless and cold presence.
Nonetheless, never collapsing consequent of
her unfaltering foundation
contrasting with a wavering soul.
the Wall can be leaned on
and holds up portraits of fleeting
memories of the desired past.
Her eyes dull, empty
reflecting an album full of
clippings with missing faces
and dark phantoms in the background.
the Wall of a now abandoned home
is burning from the inside and
claws its way out.
the Wall is last to implode harmoniously,
allowing me to collect her burning portraits.
She falls to ash
with a faint whisper of love.
I whisper back
